School Lunch Recipes
Create a Japanese school lunch (or Dinner!) in your Kitchen
The recipes on this site are an on-going project. I regularly follow school lunch and food education blogs and social media, and try to re-create or adapt recipes suitable for the kitchen that does not necessarily exist in Japan. While some of these recipes might include a few specialized ingredients, in general I have tried to create dishes that once you have the basics, you can adapt and create as you choose. On this page I have created “structured meals” - items that go well together. I also have included the recipes individually on another page (see link in column).
A hearty balance of hearty, protein, and fiber! Great for an active lifestyle!
This exciting meal lunch highlights the best of what the fields and forests have to offer when overflowing with autumnal bounty. From the ripe vegetable patches come pumpkin, sweet potato and carrot; from the orchards, apples; from the forests, mushrooms, burdock root, chestnuts and pig! This scrumptious meal embodies the rich, sweet and savory, and satisfying flavors found in the golden days of the season.
